(2020) Magnetostratigraphy of the Maastrichtian from Volga Right Bank Area Near Saratov (Lower Volga Region) // In: Yanovskaya T., Kosterov A., Bobrov N., Divin A., Saraev A., Zolotova N. (eds) Problems of Geocosmos–2018. Springer Proceedings in Earth and Environmental Sciences. Springer, Cham. P. 83-105.

We present here a synthesis of magnetostratigraphic studies of the Upper Campanian-Maastrichtian carried out for six sections in Volga Right bank area near Saratov, including new results from three sections: Vishnevoye, Lokh, and Pudovkino. on the basis of paleomagnetic correlations, ages of local stratigraphic units have been determined more precisely, and diachroneity of their boundaries has been documented. The uppermost layers of the Lokh formation have been reassigned to Upper Maastrichtian in Lokh and Pudovkino sections, contrary to previous assignment of these strata to Lower Maastrichtian. Tracing from the north to the south, the age of the top of the Nalitovo formation changes from the Early Maastrichtian (C31r magnetic chron) to the Late Campanian (C32r), and the age of the bottom of the Lokh formation from the Early Maastrichtian (from C31r) to the Late Maastrichtian (to C31n or C30n). Interrelation has been established between anisotropy of magnetic susceptibility and dynamics of slope processes. https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-030-21788-4_7
